On 15 february, almost two months after the death of lead singer David Gold, was released Woods of Ypres last album : "Woods V: Grey Skies & Electric Light". Influence of Type O Negative, yet felt on "Woods IV" are found in every song (the song "Career Suicide (Suicide Is Not Real)" seemed so similar to what would  ​​Type O Negative made, that I made several research, to see if maybe Peter Steele has faked his death "too"), and parts of black metal from past albums, have totally disappeared.

"Woods V" is definitely the easiest album of the Woods of Ypres and will probably be one of the best rated  metal albums of the year, this due to the death of David Gold, but also because it is really a good album.

In conclusion, a great album (although it haves some negative parts - little monotonous at times) not to be missed, and a verse from the best track on the album:
"They love vivos - Our Love the people is civilized ... They're living while still alive
Love vivos - Our people have civilized ... we should not worship the dead. "(PS: I know it sounds stupid, but after reading the lyrics you can not get the feeling that David has anticipated his death a little).

I was preparing for this week another band in the "Recommended" section, but I liked so much the album of  NAÏVE, that I have no patience, and I will present them first.

NAÏVE  comes from Toulouse (France), and the album "The End" was released in June 2009 ... that's all I managed to find about them, just to give you an idea of ​​how famous they are. Imagine a combination of elements from Electro,  Metal, Synthetic and Trip-Hop, and you can get an idea of ​​how "The End" sounds, 7 songs in a unique style that I listen for hours now, and I can't stop it. Dupa ce am ascultat ultima creatie a grecilor de la Septicflesh, The Great Mass, mi-am zis ca un album asemanator nu am sa ascult prea curand. M-am inselat, bineinteles, atunci cand, din greseala, am dat peste Fleshgod Apocalypse. Si mare mi-a fost mirarea. E un album care are mult de oferit. Poate fanii technical death metal ar ramane putin dezamagiti deoarece "Agony" este melodic. Si asta pentru ca partile de orchestra care insotesc linia celorlalte instrumente sunt destul de proeminente. La o prima auditie, piesele ar parea linire, dar dupa cateva reascultari fiecare din ele capata o identitate proprie. Albumul poate fi comparat cu The Great Mass, dar e mult mai violent decat acesta. Tobele is diabolic de rapide, iar chitarile nu-s mai prejos. Cred ca pe partea de clean vocals s-a incercat cam mult, dar e un detaliu peste care se poate trece foarte usor. Ritmul demential de 300bpm te loveste in fata timp de aproape 50 de minute si te lasa in agonie. Nu prea ai timp sa fii atent la detalii. Recomand acest album tuturor fanilor de brutal-technical death metal. Nu vor fi dezamagiti chiar daca sunt abordate mai multe stiluri.

       Nu...deci nu! Slabe sanse sunt sa nu iti placa Gallowbraid. Atmosfera pe care o creeaza, schimbarile bruste de ritm, energia degajata, elementele preluate de la Agalloch, Ensiferum, Ulver, fac din aceasta formatie sa aiba o tenta de originalitate, motive pentru care mi-a placut de la prima ascultare.

        Lista de formatii care ma introduc intr-o stare specifica -inceputa cu Uaral- continua cu aceasta trupa americana de black metal/doom/folk metal din Utah, formata in trecut din Jake Rogers (voce, chitara, bass, flaut), Alex Rogers (baterie), Alison Vance (voce), Megan Hunter (voce), in prezent ramanand doar Jake. La discografie, nu am deloc mult de zis, acestia avand doar un EP, lansat in 2010 si o melodie pe compilatia cu inca 24 de artisti "Der Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer" aparuta in acelasi an, care se numeste "Earthen Throne".

         Iti recomand sa iti rezervi 41 de minute pentru a asculta EP-ul si acea melodie din compilatie, deoarece nu cred ca iti va parea rau.

V-ati plictisit de toate formatiile voastre de black metal? Perfect, luati de aici ceva nou: Al-Namrood. Trupa Al-Namrood (voi scrie de mai multe ori numele, poate asa nu-l mai uit nici eu) vine din Arabia Saudita..mda, ma tot astept la fiecare piesa sa-mi explodeze boxele, dar e ok..momentan. Dar gata cu gluma, Al-Namrood suna excelent, un black metal cu influente orientale care m-a prins imediat. Recent au scos si un album nou, "Kitab Al Awthan" pe numele lui, dar probabil ati auzit deja de el..pff nu ma pot abtine..E primul album Al-Namrood pe care l-am ascultat pana acum si pot spune ca le voi incerca cu siguranta si pe restul.

In concluzie, incercati cu incredere Al-Namrood "Kitab Al Awthan", o sa va placa!

Piese de rezistenta: "Min Trab Al Jahel', "Hayat Al Khlood", "Ashab Al Aika" , "Ez Al Mulook" (PS: da, chiar asa se numesc piesele, nu inventez eu aici).

Uaral (Sounds of Pain)

         Mai mult ca sigur ati vrut macar o data sa descoperiti o trupa care sa nu semene cu aproape niciuna pe care le-ati ascultat pana atunci...ceva unic, care sa va atraga de la prima ascultare. Lista mea de trupe care ma introduc intr-o stare specifica, a inceput cu cei din "Black Waters", semnificatia orasului Curicó, Chile, anume Uaral.

         Denumirea trupei provine de la batranul mentor al membrilor formatiei, Aciago (la toate instrumentele) si Caudal (voce), care obisnuia sa le povesteasca (de aici provenind temele lirice) si sa ii invete sa cante la chitara. Ceea ce apreciez foarte mult la Uaral este ca nu doresc sub nicio forma sa devina comerciali, nesustinand nici concerte, insa pastrandu-si stilul de la demo-ul lansat in '97 pana la cel de-al II lea album -sper ca nu ultimul- din 2007. Formata in 1996, discografia consta in 3 demo-uri, un EP si 2 albume.

          Eu v-as recomanda albumul 'Sounds of Pain', nu doar pentru ca este preferatul meu, ci pentru ca il consider reprezentativ stilului acustic folk doom abordat de Uaral. Mie una, imi creeaza o stare de liniste, de impacare, chiar daca are inclinatie spre funeral doom...poate depinde de fiecare cum percepe...

La prima auditie am avut exact aceeasi senzatie pe care am simtit-o ascultand " Everything Remains As It Never Was", 2-3 piese bune, iar restul niste copii reciclate ale pieselor de pe primele 2 albume.Dar, dupa ce i-am mai dat cateva sanse, albumul a inceput sa capete sens, si sa descopar din ce in ce mai multe piese care imi plac.Per total, pentru mine e clar, cel mai bun album Eluveitie de la "Slania" incoace.

De foarte mult timp nu am mai ascultat un album din zona doom metal care sa ma convinga, care sa ma faca sa simt ca tot Universul se prabuseste in momentul in care il ascult. Asta pana saptamana trecuta, cand am pus mana pe "Emerald forest and the blackbird", un album superb, asa cum numai My Dying Bride sau Katatonia stiau sa faca pe vremuri. Piesele melancolice sunt perfect legate de cele violente, ceea ce iti creeaza o multitudine de stari. Nu de putine ori m-am trezit, ascultand albumul, purtat dintr-o stare de melancolie in una in care uram tot ce misca sau amintindu-mi lucruri demult uitate. "Emerald forest and the blackbird" a trezit ceva in mine, lucru de care imi era foarte dor.
